The activities in Security subtask are defined according to AMRES' need to raise the level of security awareness among AMRES member institutions as well as among end users.

Our first goal in this subtask will be to produce documents which should define recommendations for packet filtering in consistent way across AMRES. Subject of subsequent BPDs would be defined during a meeting of the working group.
Issues raised as the most important during the preliminary discussions with IT staff are firewall solutions, recommendations for security measures both on networking equipment and desktop running on the most popular OS, recommendations for back-up procedures for servers (Linux and Microsoft Windows as well), etc.
